New York Clash is a very underestimated team. There is a lot of great talent there. I am really looking forward to this battle. I would like to see NY surprise the heck out of everyone, but I think LA will take the win.

I have LA taking it. Both teams have a lot of talented fighters but I think LA has the edge in experience. Looking at the current rosters LA has more veteran fighters. But I think it will be a close one, no shut outs here.

I see NY winning the woman's and heavyweight divisions. Except when Donald Vickers is at heavyweight the Stars don't usually seem to have much success at that weight class. I think Jen Santiago is probably going to mow down Jessica Coverrubias. Valdivia vs Bourelly is too close to call, but I'll give it to Jason. The rest of the fights I have LA taking it.

Jessica actually did a nice job with Santiago but didn't get the points in the end. The 2nd girl in for LA (Tara Deusen) kicked Jenn Santiago out of the ring, I meaned seriously out of the ring and on to the judges table! I saw it live, what a fight. Jenn could not get her rhytym with this fight and Tara just had better reach and some serious determination! Man it was exciting to watch. Jenn lost this one but fought her heart out to try to come back. Lots and lots of fun to watch!

The score was 16-12 in Jennifer's favor. Unfortunately their fight wasn't aired in it's entirety just the usually quick highlights when they're pressed for time. But what they did show was pretty impressive. Jessica did hold her own against Jennifer. I like Alicia Ashley but like I've written before I think Jessica could be the future of the Stars female fighters. Give her some more fight time like other teams are doing switching between their starters and alternates and she'll gain more confidence and experience and really be a force to be reckoned with.

The Jen vs Tara fight was just awesome. Those 2 just tore the place up. Jennifer (5'2") fought her heart out but in this case I think the much bigger Van Deusan (5'8") just overwhelmed Jen with her reach and blitzing. Plus as talented as Jennifer is sometimes it's hard fighting someone you know nothing about. Jessica and Tara had plenty of footage of Jennifer to look at and study. Jennifer on the other hand didn't but she still fought her butt off.

I thought Tara and Jen had fought each other before in sport karate. Can anyone confirm this?

Well I cant find the results but they definitely fought in sport karate since there is a pic of them squaring off in this link.

Yeah according to that link Santiago and Van Deusen have faced each other in point fighting but according to the article it took place back in 2002 (don't know if they've fought since then). That was six years ago and people change. The fighter that Jennifer is today (age 24) is better than she was back then at age 18 and the same for Tara.

So even if they did face each other in the past. That was then this is now. Tara took time off to raise her family and run her and Colin's school. In that time she could have learned other things and improved her game.

Is anyone here the same caliber martial artist/fighter today that they were when they were young? I'm not. I've learned new stuff and improved more than when I was 18.

Plus we have to remember that they faced each other in point fighting (light contact), this is a little different. I'll Normally Jennifer can adapt to almost any opponent and dominate, but Tara seemed to have thrown her off her game.
