I was wondering if there were plans for a team in Arkansas? |

Word on the street is that there may not even be another season - let alone any new teams comign in.
Chuck can't keep putting all of his own money (reported 6 milllion for this season) every year to keep it running.
They are just not picking up the big name sponsors that they are hoping for. |

My point exactly. The WCL has been around for two years - and you have only heard about it last night.
They were banking on getting some big time sponsors - never happened. They also seriously cut the pay and bonuses for the fighters, wins, team win, spectacular k.o. - etc.
Don't want them to fold - but i think it is inevitable. |

Admin,
Can you confirm or (hopefully) deny the rumor that there will not be another season? |

I, too, would be interested in hearing this information verified from an official source. _________________ -Valiss |

You're crazy right. You really think admin is going to confirm or deny this. The middle of the playoff's ?
Think about it. Where are the sponsors. Hell, even the little sponsors that the UFC had in the beginning. Small companies, energy drinks, small clothing lines, etc.
Now they have Burger King giving out 5K per fight for the T.U.F. They have Harley Davidson, and Mickey's and tapout all over the ring.
The WCL has no sponsors that I know of. |

You talk about 'word on the street' and reported expenses, do you have links to these claims?
Just because I never watched WCL on VSN before the other night, doesn't mean I never saw it on the listing, I just have never watched that channel period.
You, sir, should quit assuming.
If WCL could expand into Arkansas, we've got Wal-Mart Home Office right here as well as lots of other vendors possibly willing to sponsor. Hell, maybe do some exhibition fights with the Destroyers and the Enforcers to gauge interest. Are the arenas portable? We have some small name MMA rings come and go, not to mention plenty of skilled, would-be fighters.
My train of thought de-railed, I'll post more later. |

Why not confirm or deny in the middle of the playoffs? If true, it likely increases attendance to the championship. Is this conjecture on your part or do you have some specific knowledge from someone inside the league that this is the last season? |

I definitely think the season will continue, they are doing a lot better this season, they also start having wcl magazine, newsletter, new wcl community, and new website....etc this season, it's no reason for them not to continue next season. Even on Turfwars newsletter #15, they say it's been a huge success. "The season started slow, with crowd of just 1,500 for the opener in Denver. But with buzz about the league spreading via internet chat rooms, martial arts tournaments... in March, the league was playing to a sold out venue(5,000) and turning away more people at the box office(2,000) than were in attendance at the first event of the year." |

Okay "Overhandright," I think that you are just full of it. Obviously you just like to get everyone worked up. I do not know any inside scoops but I certainly hope we will see more of the WCL. If they could just get the name out there more it would be GREAT. I am trying to pass on the excitement to my friends and family and they all love it and want more!!! _________________ The shortest and surest way to live with honour in the world, is to be in reality what we would appear to be; and if we observe, we shall find, that all human virtues increase and strengthen themselves by the practice of them.

I am certainly not an official source, but for what it is worth, the "ticket center" on the home page says "World Combat League 2008-2009 Coming Soon". |
