I'm trying to figure out when the new WCL season will air on Versus. According to my local tv guide, new WCL epsidoes will start this Sunday. However, I am not sure if these are re-run or if it is the matches from the current season.
I read online that even though they haven't been broadcasting them, the WCL has been doing fights since October or November '07 for the new season, but have yet to air those matches.
Does anyone have any info on this? Is this the new season starting this Sunday or are they just scheduling more re-runs? _________________ -Valiss |

This sunday Versus will be showing the Stars vs. Destroyers from October. That was the first WCL show of this season. I sat ringside for this one as a reserve for the Destroyers and let me tell you that it is a great event! Don't miss it. |

The Versus schedule today shows that "WCL Turf Wars" will be airing at 5 pm EST tonight. The summary of it says "Join host Chad Range as he reviews and previews each thrilling week of the World Combat League season. Go behind the scenes with the fighters and teams as they train, strategize and come together for fight night. The 30-minute magazine format shows offers in-depth features and rare footage that allows the view to get to know the fighters and to experience their triumphant highs and dream-shattering lows. WCLTurfWars is the ultimate insider’s view for fans of stand-up mixed martial arts and the World Combat League." |

One of the (many) issues with the WCL on Versus is that I have a hard time finding the time something airs because they advertise the times in EST when I'm PST. But according to the tv guide, this program will show today for me at 2pm, which is much too early for me to go home from work to watch it. I wish they'd run some commercials for this show on Versus.
Also the guide says that this show will air again next Thursday. What I want to know is if it will be the same show next week or is this now a new weekly program? Anyone know? _________________ -Valiss |

Well, that is new to me. Sounds like it could be a very good show to get the fans familiar with the WCL. There are cameras in the locker room, backstage, and everywhere else during a WCL fight. They would have plenty of footage to make several shows of this nature. |

I agree, PJ. Last season they would show the half-time shots in the locker room with the coach yelling at the fighters, fighters getting taped-up, etc. That was good stuff. Did you see the INSIDE the WCL that they aired last season? It looked like a special show, not a weekly thing, but had all kinds of great interviews and info about the new league, explaining all about the rules and such. That kind of show would be a good inside to learn more about fighters & coaches, recent fights and the WCL as whole if it was a weekly show. In fact, I think some MMA leagues do that on Fox Sports Network (I think it's PRIDE). It really helps to generate interested and makes us as the audience feel more connected to the sport and league. _________________ -Valiss |

As of right now, August '08, the big main page "news" is from last year's season.
Also, the TV schedule ends in June, '08 (when it is now August). Because I cannot get the WCL schedule locally, the lack of a TV schedule on the WCL site has made me miss some key competitions I was really interested in seeing.
I like WCL a lot, but right now I am not very happy. |
