I recently received the 30 Best KO's DVD I ordered from the WCL store. The DVD is awesome but in watching Raymond Daniels' performances in the DVD I was truly embarrassed as a martial artist and as a fan of the WCL. The guy is a pretty good fighter but man is he a dick. All the showboating he does, although he may think he is trying to make it exciting for the fans, is really disrespectful towards his opponent. There was one knockout that was really good where he hits the guy in the liver with a great kick but as the guy is down on the mat he comes over and starts yelling at him what looked like "How does that feel" or something to that effect. Not only is that disrespectful to his opponent but quite unprofessional as a fighter. To the fans that think this is "exciting" you guys should stick to WWE and TNT where entertainment is the name of the game and not sport. This is where that type of behavior belongs. It does NOT belong in a professional fighting league and most certainly not in a ring (no matter what shape that ring comes in).
As a fighter myself, I would never show that kind of disrespectful behavior to one of my opponents. No, I am not a professional and am not at Mr. Daniels level. Still, I respect my opponent for getting in the ring and competing. I respect him as a martial artist, as a competitor but most of all as a human being. The behavior Mr. Daniels displays is NOT entertaining, but rather shameful and embarrassing. This past weekend many people were witness to Brock Lesner's antics after his fight with Mir. 99.9% of real fight/combat sports fans found this behavior to be totally bogus and out-of-line. Dana White did the right thing and gave Mr. Lesner a tongue lashing for his post-fight behavior in the cage. I hope that Mr. Norris takes notice of this and does the same with Mr. Daniels. It is perfectly acceptable to celebrate a victory but not to get in the face of a defeated opponent and rub the loss in his face. _________________ www.mybodypotential.com |

Galo,
I am glad somebody has finally posted something on the board worth talking about (other than when season 3 will finally start). Unfortunately though, I do not share your opinion.
I would never nominate Raymond Daniels for Sportsman of the Year because he is a massive show-off. However, I would stop well short of putting him in the same class as that piece of garbage Brock Lesnar.
First, Daniels has never been disrespectful of the WCL's fans (let alone flipped them off). In fact, Daniels does everything he can to make sure the fans are into the action and having a good time. This is a far cry from Lesnar's be way bigger than the opponent, lay on them, and not give a crap what the fans think strategy.
Second, Lesnar's disrespect did not end with the fans. It continued to his (and the league's) sponsors and his wife. I could not imagine Daniels doing anything like this (if the WCL had any major sponsors that is).
As far as the yelling at the opponent after the fight, I agree that this is not a classy move. That being said, we do not know what was said before the fight as part of the pre-fight hype. Perhaps he said something that set Daniels off. Who knows? I give Daniels the benefit of the doubt on this one because I have seen him win like 15 other WCL fights and never disrespect the loser. I think of Daniels as a guy who tries to bring the show and self-promote, but not somebody who disrespects his opponents. If I see it again, I will likely change my stance on this. |

I think that is a better route for him to go instead of MMA. _________________ www.mybodypotential.com |

I dont know... His boxing doesn't really seem that impressive to me. His most dangerous weapon is his feet. He should just move find a legit MMA school like couture, american top team, etc... Give it a year or two and he could be a force to be reckoned with. We see how boxing goes for him |

I don't know man, he is already a stand-up fighter. All he has to do is refine his hands without having to learn a whole new art (not that that would be bad). _________________ www.mybodypotential.com |

I agree...but if he does what he did for his MMA fight, he will lose. If you watch his MMA debut u will see he did absolutely no Jiu-Jitsu before. He didn't attempt to regain gaurd, sweep. etc...
I like Ray but he will have to ACTUALLY GO TO A BOXING GYM and learn how to box.
If he does that then he will probably be a force |

Anyone know if Raymond Daniels ever fought in a pro-boxing match? If so, what were the results? _________________ www.mybodypotential.com |
