I don't know how to make a poll on here but I'd like to see what everyone thinks about the WCL "ring"? Personally, I find it unprofessional. I know that Chuck is trying to make the WCL different from everything else but having the fighter fight in that circle shaped "ring" makes it look even less than amateur. I love the WCL and am a huge fan of it, but I wish this is something that they would change. Having the fighters fight in an actual ring would, in my opinion, legitimaize the league in the eyes of fight fans. I think right now most people see it as a novelty thing and I'd like to see it really become a place wehre stand up fighters want to go and fight. I mean, I've talked to a couple of our amateur guys at my gym about the league and they have absolutely no interest in competing in it.

The ring makes it difficult to "corner" someone because there are no ropes...I dont think the ring is the problem it's the one 3 minute round. The reason why some fighters look slopey is because the fighters are forced to fight with a sense of emergency. If you watch amateur fighters they all fight like that. WCL has awesome KO's in my opinion. The WCL is great for fighters to get some national TV exposure and the pay is pretty good when compared to MMA. If the guys in ur gym dont want to fight on TV...there probably nervous to get KO'ed on TV or they may have an established MMA career and the risk of losing in the WCL is not worth it.

WCL needs to recognize the people who follow fighting are young to middle aged men not the every day family that they market themselves to...more blood, higher ratings.

I disagree. I think the one, three minute round and the sense of urgency is what makes the fights exciting and thus produce more KOs. Most people when turning on the television and changing channels see two guys fighting in what looks to be a point fighting setting will skip over the fights. It just doesn't look like a legitimate professional fight.

The guys in my gym aren't interested in fighting in the league because it looks like a step below WBC and WCK where they are fighting. I do agree with your final statement tho. Fighting is not a "family event." The fans are mainly males in their mid-teens to late 30's.

I agree with Galo to a point. I like the 3 min. rounds, but I think there should be 3 rounds. either 3-3-1 or 3-3-3. I also think that just like boxing and MMA there should be more rounds for "title fights."

Now this brings me to the most difficult part. I think WCL should loose the teams. I actually like the idea, but I come from a HS and College Wrestling background so in my mind it makes sense. That being said, most fight fans think the team idea is lame and amateurish. I think the WCL would do itself a benefit to do this or at the very least have a tournament following the season (although I think getting rid of the teams would be the best idea). If you keep the teams then have 2 rounds one after the other with a possible 1 min tie breaker round and if there is a knockout then the weightclass and fight is over (one fighter per weight class). No half time.

The fight surface in my eyes if perfect. It creates action and it gives fans and cameras the utlimate visability. 3 min rounds are just right with the current no grappling/clinching rules we just need more rounds.

I also think a caught kick should not be counted as holding/stalling as long as a strike is thrown directly after and it is let go of directly after.

Just a fans thoughts. I'll continue to watch either way.

I love it. It is unique and when you see it you know exactly what organization it represents. I wonder how much it costs? Can you purchase one? Links?
