I've enjoyed getting to know the WCLs emerging champs. Seems like many of the fighters are new to pro-fighting. It's great that these guys are getting the experience and exposure in the ring. But the league needs some professional and experienced competition.
For example, take Ray Daniels. Currently he is undefeated in his weight class and the WCL doesn't seem to have much in offering up a fighter to upset his record. But truth be told, he hasn't fought anyone who has a decent professional record.
They need to recruit some big names from other organizations like K-1 or Boxing, even if they are ex-champs past their prime. First, this would add name value to the match. Second, can you imagine Hoost or even LeBanner in the WCL? They'd destroy everyone. Now this league probably doesn't have the money to get real big names, but some b-class fighters would add some value and draw in new crowds. Pete Spratt was a good start; people know him and he has brought some attention the WCL by just being in it for a short time. Also, it would be nice to see the WCL fighters not have to fight the same guys over and over when one of them is just dominating the rest in the weight class.
What pro-fighters would you like to see enter the WCL? _________________ -Valiss |

I think this is where the idea of superfights comes into play in order to hype up WCL fighters.
As for fighters I'd like to see...John Wayne Parr. That guy doesn't get enough love in K-1 circles. |

I certainly don't mind the idea of a superfight like the IFL does, but I think the bigger issue is the money. After writing my comment above, I read an article written in Dec 2006 about Pete Spratt where he says that he enjoyed the WCL but the money just wasn't there. That was over a year ago, but I think that biggest hurdle to getting fighters is the paycheck, unlike the UFC where it has name recognition and new fighters line up to compete. Who knows, maybe the WCL will aquire more sponsors this season and be able to afford some seasoned pros. _________________ -Valiss |

Well, NY got Mike McDonald so that's a step in the right direction. Maybe get some fighters from Thailand like Yodsenklai or Kaew Fairtex. I think they would be pretty expensive tho. |

I think when all is said and done, the real issue is money. The WCL simply can not afford to hire big name pro fighters at this time. They need to get a larger audience and couple more sponsors, but if they can pull that off, then I think we'd see more skilled fighters. That said, Yodsenklai would be awesome but he'd tear everyone up! _________________ -Valiss |

I'd like to see Holly Holm fight in the WCL but as mentioned before the WCL probably couldn't offered her either. Holly started off kickboxing and dominated her opponents then made the switch to boxing where she's made a name for herself fighting the likes of Mia St. John and Christy Martin. |
