Is the 2007 Season still going to start at the beginning of May? If so, it is already the end of March and no news on where the event is going to be. I just don't see how the WCL could not know where the event is going to be if the season is going to start at the beginning of May. This is really frustrating. I want to go to every event this year, but need to let my company know which days I am going to be off. The fans that want to travel to these events need to plan. If the entire season is not planned out why can't the first event date and place be released? Anyway, I can't be the only one who is getting frustrated over this (or maybe I am), so I thought I would say something.

I'm in the same boat as you. I am trying to get to some events this year, but it is difficult to schedule when there is not schedule. When do you guys plan to release a schedule?

And did I correctly understand what I could read on the site (item : "schedule") ? Are the finals of the 2007 season really scheduled for September 29 ? If there are as many teams as in the next season and the system is the same, that would mean 6 events in 5 months (May – end September).

thats our understanding, 4 events for eveybody and the playoff rounds for a total of 6

I agree, though judging by another thread on this forum where the Admin is asking for suggestions on fight locations, I'd say they don't have their act together. I am finding it hard to figure when or if they will show the new 2007 season on tv.

Moreover, I have found it difficult to find when the matches from last season air. The times listed on the site are different from the show times listed on the Versus website which don't match when they actually air on my tv. I've had to rely on my local tv guide to find the times. Not a huge deal but makes for planning a fight nite more difficult.

I'm hoping this is just some PR/media roughness that they will have ironed out Real Soon(tm). Since it is still new I am willing to cut them some slack, but I know many mma/combat sport fans that are not as patient. One only needs to look at the push behind the IFL to see how much hype can be generated by having a steady tv schedule and lots of ads. I'd like to think that the WCL is working towards that.

I will say, however, that the Inside the WCL program was a good move. I know a few ppl who have not heard of the WCL and are intersted in checking it out as a result of that show. Couldn't hurt to do some more 'behind the scenes' shows to generate interst. Here's to hoping they get a clear schedule out soon.

After the post from admin asking for more locations, I also thought that it did not sound like they have the entire schedule ready, but if the season really is going to start in May, I do not see how they could not know where the event is going to be held.

I follow the TV schedule on the Versus Channel website, not from the WCL site. I am lucky in that my DVR will pick up every time a WCL fight is scheduled to air, but sometimes it will record a boxing match even though it was supposed to be a WCL match (tv shows WCL, but no WCL). So that does not help in having a fight night. Or like last night, the Versus channel was blacked out in all of Austin (Time Warner) so my DVR just recorded a black screen for the Texas vs. LA match. Which just adds to my frustration.

Admin and/or Guy,

Can you guys give us an update on the scheduling for next year? Basically, I would like to know:

- Are you still planning a May start for the season?
- Have the venues and dates for the entire season been selected?
- When will the dates and venues be announced?
- Is the championship still scheduled for Sept 29, 2007 as it says on the website?

The 2007 WCL schedule is in the works. We will post to the website specific dates and venues as they become available. The current season of WCL is showing excellent ratings and a number of sponsorship deals and team annoucements in the plans. Stay tuned and thanks for the great response.

Just noticed that the 2007 schedule on the website no longer says May 2007 and now says Summer 2007. Disappointing...I was looking forward to it. I hope this does not mean that the season will be shortened.

I hope the season isn't shortened also. I guess we will have to wait a little longer for the season to start. Until then, the rest of the first season is airing on Versus which is pretty cool. I can't wait until the second season starts.

I found the following post on another martial arts board:

“Wanted to thank everyone that stopped by the booth to see Alex and I at the arnold classic this weekend it was great!! We even got to cruise around in the WCL Hummer saturday night!! Also make sure to check out the new show Inside The WCL shows highlights of a few fighters and I am one of them.... of course the next highlight is followed up with my arch Rival Kevin Engle who scored a knockdown on me!! can't wait for the revenge up till that point for 1 round and 3/4 of the second I was pitching a shut out but he caught me .... so watch for that fight too... Oklahoma vs. Houston.. Talking to the WCL today the new season is now set to start for sure in June...”

It is a shame that we have to get this type of information from other boards (if it is true). I would love to see information like this posted on this board.

WCL staff – can you guys confirm or deny this rumor?
