Hello everyone,
Checking with you all to see if you got to watch the 2nd WCL show 12-9-06. We had a group of people to come watch at a local resturant and they showed it on the big screen and all the other customers there were watching and got into.
I had lost weight about 15 lb. from the New york vs. Miami show, but I still have a ways to go. :-) !!!!!!!! Wanted to get your thoughts on the show, If you had any experiences or ideas that may help the League grow even, more.
No more long lay offs for me. I can't afford to get that bad out of shape EVER again. It's just not healthy.
Hope every one has a Wonderful Holiday. Looking forward to next year. |

I saw the fights on Vs. this weekend. I got tickets to the Championships on January 20 and it is great that I get to watch all of these fights on Saturdays so that I will be more familiar with the fighters. |

I watched WCL for the first time on Vs. this past Saturday, and wow, that was awesome. I'm a huge fan of the UFC, but I can see myself getting totally into the WCL. I can see myself traveling around to watch my team! Chuck Rocks! David |

After watching the teams fight on Saturdays I have noticed that some of the teams do not exist any more. The fighters from the Las Vegas Gators are now on the Oklahoma Destroyers and the fighters from the Denver Destroyers are now on the Houston Enforcers. Does any one know if the teams that are on the website are going to be the teams for next year? Are there going to be more than 8 teams next year? |

The team varied this year because of the interest in team owners. There maybe some changes in cities for the upcoming season depending on the interest of new team owners. They may or may not want to bring there teams closer to their home town. The '07 season will have 8 teams; 4 east coast and 4 west coast. - Guy |

Hello,
I'm always interested in checking out new MMA leagues and tv specials. I heard about WCL on another message board last month and found out I'm one of the few people I know that gets the Versus Network! I've had a chance to watch the 2 shows/matches on the Versus network that aired in Dec, and I had a couple of other MMA friends/fans come by the house and watch with me. Here are our armchair thoughts on the tv episodes:
-Nice fast fights. Like advertised, there was less 'resting' and more continuous action. Makes for good tv!
-Seemed like there were a number of inexperienced full contact fighters. Not a big deal really since these guys will get better with fight experience and as more full contact fighters join the league. But you could tell within the first 20 seconds of a match who had fought full contact and who had point fighting only experience. Kinda fun!
-I'm glad they've been able to recruit some experienced fighters to coach and participate. On one of the matches I caught, I saw Guy Mezger in there doing some coaching. Nice to see some experienced hands in there, and that will help pull in people to the WCL show. People like name recognition.
-As far as I can tell, these fights were filmed months ago, but there was no fight dates mentioned in the episode itself. Also, there seems to be a distinct lack of info about these specific fights on the internet (aside from it was March 3 2006 and Los Angeles stars vs. Las Vegas Gators). But earlier in this thread Guy mentioned that they've traded some teams/players, so maybe that's why they didnt post the team rooster for those fights. Still, I'd like to see some card info on the WCL site or even on another site like sherdog.com.
-They showed some good fights, but after a commercial break we figured out that they weren't showing us all the fights (under card stuff I'd guess) probably due to tv time constraints. But I cant tell if they were cutting out some of the second rounds or if was just alternates completing the matches. But after the commercial break they played some highlights of some matches we didnt see that looked exciting.
That said, overall, we thought the show was good and has a lot of potential! Particularly the first Thomas Longacre fight and Tim “Irish Pride” Connors - real fun to watch. I don't know how many events WCL has or plans to have, but if they could get matches on a regular night on Versus, it would make it MUCH easier to follow/get into (like fight night). Or conversely, if they could get a couple of tv specials a month instead and make them 2 hours and show us the full event (minus half-time), that would be sweet too.
Versus is supposed to air some new WCL fights this coming Monday and I've got some people come over to watch the fights. We are looking forward to checking out this new league some more. Keep'em coming!

Thanks for the interest in the WCL Val.
- First of all you got to see the WCL live. Totally diffrent expereince. No stop action. No commercial breaks. No down time. Like any sporting event. diffrent experince from being there live and watching on T.V.
-Due to the website make over that is going. alot of the older content from past WCl's is being moved and sorted thru. The website is getting better by the day with a great look and feel that is perfect for the WCL barnad and attitude. The Wcl also has a myspace page and a MAC experience page where you can find other tidbits about the WCL.
http://www.myspace.com/worldcombatleague
http://blog.myspace.com/worldcombatleague
http://www.macexperience.net
- As the WCL holds more events and goes in the 2007 season . the best fighters from each team will rise to the top. The WCl coaches will be able to find the best 6 fighters for each of their team.
Thanks again Val and keep watching the WCL. Let me know if you got any more comments or questions _________________ WCL=Big in 07 and beyond

I would be interested in seeing the WCL live if it would come to California. Perhaps in 2007, they can tour around a bit to the west and drum up more support over here. A couple of people who watched the fights with me recently seem cautiously optimistic about the future of the sport and said they would go to a fight if there was one close.
Also, thanks for the links. You guys should think about updating the wikipedia page for this sport as well. I've started the page with the little info I could dig up on the web, but perhaps someone more authoritative could edit the article for accuracy.
