MMA is "boring" my arse. Raymond boasted of taking it to a higher level, but failed to deliver anything effective. It's called Mixed Martial Arts for a reason , almost anything outside of a groin strike , blows to the back of the head , and gouging can be used. Metcalf , a run of the mill upcoming MMA fighter , played it smart and took Raymond's legs away , then proceeded to ride him like a one trick pony. Raymond had no excuse for having no ground defense , this was hopefully an eye opener.

WOW, all he had was a black eye!!! HE STILL LOST!!! Just having a black eye does not mean anything. He could have left the ring without a mark but he still lost bad, he didnt do anything and for someone who claims he is the best not to do anything is worse than a slightly black eye!!!

Take your best mma fighter in Ray's weight class and go stand up only and he'd be a highlight reel.

I'm not taking anything from mma grapplers.. like wrestlers they are great athletes but take the stand up and ko's out of mma and you have a boring arse fight and sport.

The whole idea the mma is closer to a "real Fight" is nonsense. In a real world where eyes, throat, groin and against the joint knees are in play,.. I''ll take the strikers. The last thing I'd want to do is "grapple" where you can grab the groin or gouge the eyes, bite, etc...

There is nothing more exciting than the KO....One punch and turn the match upside down. not get caught grab and go to the ground or go to ground to keep from being lit up

with all the hype I can understand the MMA gloat. However the MMA fighters are not dominating the WCL.

I hate when you have mouse minded morons read into things. Grapplers, judo practitioners, wrestlers esp college are great athletes. Because I think stand up is a better game doesn't mean that I believe stand up combat martial artists are better I will say they are more exciting

I hate even more when the intellectually impotent kool aid drinkers come over here under a different moniker.

yes Ray got beat and not only that he had a bad fight and lost bad ...satisfied please I love fact he loses one fight in years in a sport he's never fought in and you people want to bury him and the sports he's great at. I'll put up 5000 in a WCL rules 5 rounder against Medcalf. ...If Ray wins it will mean Ray is a better stand up fighter and nothing else. All that happened that night is Medcalf proved he's a better ground fighter. Not a better athelete, fighter or any thing else. He proved without a doubt that he's better than Ray at his sport than Ray is..... That's all!...OMG lets have some drama and I'm the one who's ignorant lol :)

Anderson Silva - stand up only would kill Ray. And when you say stand up I'm going to assume your allowing Muay Thai rules, or do you want the restrictive WCL rules?

If you take the stand up and ko's out of WCL, you also have a boring arse fight and sport. Actually you don't even have a sport.

You obviously are underestimating Brazilian Jujitsu, and grappling in general. The closest thing to an actual "real fight" in sports would by early UFC, and a grappler won 3 out of the 4 tournaments he participated in (Royce Gracie). The only situation where I would take a striker is when you are outnumbered.

And there IS stand up in MMA if you haven't noticed, MMA fighters aren't one dimensional. They CROSS-TRAIN. Many come to MMA with just striking skills, but they TAKE THEIR TRAINING SERIOUSLY, and LEARN SOMETHING, so they don't go out and GET THEIR arse KICKED.

There are KOs in UFC, and in my opinion they're much more exciting than the ones in the WCL.

Now in your opinion stand up is more exciting, but thats your opinion. Its harder to get someone in an armbar, or a kimura than you think, you actually have to know what your doing, and thats why its interesting. When guys get each other in leg bars, and its a test of who cares less about their leg, it gets interesting.

The only reason I'm hard on Ray is because he went into MMA extremely cocky, and he got his arse handed to him, by a mediocre opponent. Ray could obviously destroy Metcalf in the WCL. It would be a no brainer, WCL rules already restrict half of Metcalf's arsenal.

fine That's all opinion silva is a great fighter but I love your omnipotence. I guess like from god above if whitecastle says it it must be.....I'll still take Ray however I think silva would a wt class heavy Ray is a light middle to middle naturally

Silva is a middleweight naturally, he is just moving up to light heavyweight because he dominated the middleweight division.
