Laughing OH MY GOSH!! John James sent ?? into dreamland, POW! UNBELIEVABLE!

2 of the worst teams beat two of the best!! Better luck next year Finney. HAve you seen Turf Wars? Finney trashed talked everyone and hear him tell it ST LOUIS was going All the way. ( By the way, Schulmans brother told us that night HOW DOES IT FEEL TO GET BEAT BY THE WORST TEAM! Finney must feel like crap to say alll the BS and it back up IN HIS FACE!!) He also stated Miami always makes excuses...WHY WOULD YOU HAVE TO MAKE ECUSES IF YOU ARE WINNING. Werent they undefeated!! Is he stupid? I played sports in Scool and College, and undefeated teams.....THEY DONT HAVE TO MAKE EXCUSES!! Looks like they were making STATEMENTS!! Too bad for Miami and St Louis. GOODLUCK to the rest of the teams.

I am an Oklahoma fan and went to watch. WHAT A GREAT NIGHT OF FIGHTS, it came down to the last fight for all four teams! Thank you Mr Norris!!

WCL FIGHT FAN OUT!! Keep giving us Full throttle action CHUCK! See you in the championships!!

What about the part in the media session on Thursday after Finney was trash talking bout one schulmann brother to the other.
Hall - the light heavy weight fighter went right up to him - while the cameras were rolling and called him out !

Hall called him a P...y - on camera. Asked Finney that with all of his trash talking going on that he should step outside with him.

Finney who say's he doesn't street fight - was speachless after Hall came back and said No Problelm - we'll do it on the stage - exhibition match.

Finney, the p...y that he is - couldn't look at Hall the rest of the weekend. Real tuff.

Another thought on Finney, I had no problem with him prior to Friday (other than thinking he was a bit cocky and arrogant based on his Turf Wars appearance), but his coaching at the Friday event was awful and cost his team the match in my opinion. A few of his questionable calls:

- Finney talked glowingly in the program about the new additions that he made at heavyweight, and neither did well (I do not think either of them were better than Diomande, though I am not sure if he was available to fight).
- Why say that New Jersey was the worst team in the league? Just silly... Have some class and do not give them bulletin board material (or else you just might lose to the "worst team in the league" like he did)
- Lastly, I think John Gruebel is a very good fighter and has done a nice job this year, but how do you go into the last fight (to determine if you advance or not) with your MVP on the bench? Who knows, but I think Connors would have knocked out Gonzalez.

The fact that Engel was out hurt them too, but I guess that is not the coach's fault...

From what I heard, even though Connors won, Maceo banged him up good enough were he couldn't roll in the second. Think you're right about him taking out Gonzalez.

Hands down Finney is a D..k !

Guess it's true what they say, the biggest talker is the first one to back down.

Would love to see that on the press conference - Hall callling him a P..sy!

Isaac Diomande was available to fight in this event. He was released from the St. Louis Team just before the event took place. Diomande finished his season with a 2-1 WCL record. Two of his wins via KO. The one match that Diomande lost was to John James of New Jersey with a score of 15 James, 14 Diomande. Also note that it was John James that KO'ed St. Louis's new Heavyweight in this last event. Isaac's statistics were 46 points scored while only giving up 16 points total to his opponents in three matches.

St. Louis Heavyweight Statistics for this season:

Atlantic City event
Diomande: 15-0
Dean: 10-15
Point margins: 25-18, +7 points

San Antonio event
Diomande: 14-15
Graden: 9-15
Point margins: 23-30, -7 points

Tulsa event
White: 0-15
Diomande: 17-1
Points margins: 17-16, +1 point

St. Louis event
Turlington: 6-15
Seif: 0-15
Points margins: 6-30, -24 points

After the East Coast Season opener in Atlantic City, St. Louis released their Heavyweight Alternate fighter. Over the next three events, St. Louis went through 3 different replacements for the Heavyweight Alternate spot. The total points scored from all 3 different replacements were a combined total of 9 points for all three events. That is less points than the original Alternate they replaced scored in one match.

After the Tulsa Event, St. Louis releases Isaac Diomande from the team. This is after Diomande won his last match by KO. Diomande's stats are among the top Heavyweights in the league at this time. Take a look at the downward fall over the course of 4 events for St. Louis Heavyweights!

St. Louis Enforcers Heavyweights, total points scored combined per event:

Atlantic City: 25 points scored
San Antonio: 23 points scored
Tulsa event: 17 points scored
St. Louis event: 6 points scored

Although we will never know, it would have been nice to see how far St. Louis would have gone with its original team! I believe that Coach Finney was trying to improve his team, but this seemed to backfire on him and cost the Enforcers a great deal in the end.

Steamroller out!

I agree with Steamroller. Finney should have worked with what he origanally had. You can not have a strong "team" when you change fighters after each event. I know of a few guys that would've been strong if he left them on the team. Finney is about making money, not friends.

I wasn't there and didn't hear what Finney said at the event, but I didn't really have a problem with him on Turf Wars. Trash talk is part of the game and isn't meant to be taken personally. Finney coaches a team and so naturally he would think his team is the best and try to provoke the other teams.

As far as his coaching goes, I can't say good or bad to that as they've only had maybe 1 game on Versus this year so far. But I know from playing other sports that changing the line-up too much can really undermine a teams strength. Finney has an account on this forum, so maybe he'll speak up and let you know why he made his decisions.

Hello fight fans! This is St Louis Coach Jesse Finney, although I am not a big forum board type guy I could not help but hear about all the buzz I am getting on this board based on my coaching decisions and ability to stir things up a bit to generate a little excitement.

Seems like at the end of the day I am the guy some of you just love to hate. This is ok, every type sport out there needs one I suppose so this is my one and only time on the forum just to clarify a couple things that have been discussed.

First of all I have all the respect in the world for the New Jersey Tigers, the coaches and the fighters as well. With that being said, did I talk a little smack going into the playoffs? Sure I did, and as a result we sold out the Family Arena in St Louis and had to turn 1500 – 2000 away at the door, something that has yet to be done. Fight fans love drama and that is exactly just what they got. Some of you know me both in and out of the ring and know I do not talk smack just to be doing it.

I personally spoke with Coach Schulman and Uriah Hall after the match and congratulated them both on a well earned victory. Anyone involved with the league should be able to read their handbook and understand all of this and that is all I really can say about that.

As far as my coaching ability and decisions, I coached my team last year to a championship victory. At each event the coaches make the second half roster at half time, not knowing what the second half will bring. No one knows going into the second half that the entire season will revolve around the last fight of the night. And, even without Kevin Engel St Louis only lost by a 2 point margin, and actually it was only one point after final review.

The one thing that continues to make the WCL so exciting as a team event is that any one team can win the first 4-5 bouts by points and then just one knock out can turn everything around!

I wish both New York and New Jersey the best of luck in then playoffs. Stay tuned, I am sure to give everyone something to talk about again next season.

Respects to all,
Coach Jesse Finney

Mr Finney,

Thanks for coming on and clarifying your comments for us fans! It has been a great year so far (at least for those of us that follow the WCL on Versus) and in terms of St. Louis, I'm looking forward to Connors to avenge his Oxely loss. Everyone and their neighbor will always run their mouths, but it'll all come down to what happens in the ring.

You mentioned that during halftime you make the roster for he second half. Can that be changed after halftime? For example, can you have a backup fighter go in at the last second if the scheduled fighter has some issue arise?

At any rate, thanks again for coming on the boards and talk to the fans. Good luck with the rest of the season and I hope to see you again on Turf Wars!

wcllover, at least your in OK with it's very own league team! Here in CA we have the LA Stars, yet no shows ever in the State. Consider yourself fortunate on that one. I'd love to go to a show as well and I know a half dozen others that would go if it was local. I hoping that it will happen next season.
