lol we'll see. When he heals my bet is he won't have the courage to come back...esp without his dad behind him.
BigJack, don't be silly. Just because you dislike his fans and father doesn't mean you should dislike or bad-mouth a stand up young man like Stephen. Stephen has plenty of courage and class and has never said anything bad about you or Raymond. I know your relationship with Raymond and your constant need to protect Raymond and his reputation. I know this is a sore subject for you, and would probally be better off left alone. Sometimes when you mean to do Ray justice, you instead make him look bad. So stop with the BS please. If Stephen and Raymond fight again, it will be great for the sport. If Stephen comes back healthy, it will also be great for the sport. You know this, and so does anyone with any knowledge of the the fight game.
He knows it thats why he scarred for "his friend"
When I watch someone like Daniels, I can see his explosive power, but sometimes it looks like he's just throwing the technique without regard to what his opponent is doing. That can it look like a certian hit was lucky, though I don't really belive in a "lucky punch/kick". What bugs me though is his punching - or lack thereof. Not only does he rarely punch, but his punches look quick and powerless - like something that you would do in a point-fighting match. Is his background in point-fighting? I think Daniels would benefit a lot from working with a boxing coach for a few months to build up that portion of his skillset. To that ends, Thompson looks like a more rounded fighter.

Bigj, so you obvious seem to know what's up with the Thompson camp. Is Stephen's dad still coaching in the WCL? Do you think that Stephen won't be back after he gets healed? Will he compete again in the WCL? I'd hate to hear that his match with Danels ended his professional career.
Stephen is doing better and his knee is getting stronger. An injury like this takes time to heal properly. No Ray Thompson is not coaching in the WCL this year. I believe Stephen will be back, not sure when. Stephen's career is not over, he will make a comeback from this in due time. He is a warrior!

Steamroller, that is good to hear. I know that joint injuries can be tricky and sometimes fighters spring back quickly and sometimes that ends their careers. I hate to see a fighter of Thompson's caliber get cut short so early in his career. Plus, like everyone else, I want a rematch between Daniels and Thompson.

I'd like to think that if/when he returns, the WCL website will have something about it on there. But in the mean time, let's just hope that Thompson is still training in his recovery to come back and try it again.

I saw Stephen last week. His rehabilitation is coming along as scheduled. He's had some minor set backs but is doing well. He's definitely looking forward to fighting again in the not too distant future but it won't be in the WCL. I must say the young man always impresses me with his exuberant positive attitude.

Fighter1982, I'm on the West Coast and the WCL doesn't come out here to fight so all I know is what I see on TV and read on the 'net. But from what I can piece together, it seems like the Stephen Thompson camp feels like they got a bad call on the Daniels v Thompson match last season. As far as I can tell, I think the Thompson camp feels like there should have been a foul called on Daniels during their match, and there wasn't. So perhaps they've pulled out of the league as a result. This is just a bit of detective work on my part and pieced together from comments on various websites and forums so I’m not 100% sure on this.

fighter1982,

Your post sounds like Thompson's classless father after last year's fight. Grow up.

It is a shame that Thompson does not plan to return to the WCL. He was good for the league, and the league is good for him. Either way, glad to hear he is recovering well. I'd hate to see a young guy's career end that way...

O I know about all that, I dont agree with the bad call protest they started. he hurt his knee on acident & even if daniels had hit his knee with his it would have been acident from what I saw at the event and on the net. They just didn't want a loss like that or much less a loss I believe. Did there fight end up on versus? I just don't agree with parting ways with wcl is gona solve anything and is kinda childish.

How is that the210? I believe he can beat him and has the tools to. So from disagreeing with you and others make me sound like his dad?

Fighter1982, yeah they did air the finals on Versus which had that fight, but they didn't make a big deal out of it. It looked liked he fell and that's how I remember the commentators calling it: a trip or fall. No one talked about a "protest" or anything. Now some of this 'insider' info that you shared is starting to paint the full picture here.

Either way, that's long over, and the season 1 DVD wills be out next month so everyone can watch and decide from themselves. I just would like to have seen Thompson come back as I agree that he is good for the league and entertaining to watch.

1982,

You are very much entitled to your opinion (Thompason may be able to beat Daniels, I don't think so, but who knows). I was just referring to the "under the desk" comment, which was almost exactly what Thompson's dad said on another board last year. No reason to talk like that on here...
speed is nothing if you have perfect timing man. Daniels hasn't been able to show his timing yet. Also Daniels is a great fighter and the best right now in wcl, but everybody waits on him and he is too fast to wait on. He is the type of guy u have to fight like hollyfield beat tyson, he stayed inside his power and speed and Tyson didn't know what to do, no one has ever done that to him before hollyfield.
Daniels timing has been good in every WCL match I've seen him in (especially the Copeland match). He does tend to get sloppy and show off toward the end of fights, but I think he would take Thompson (or Crafton Wallace or Kevin Engel) seriously and not mess around.

Stephens silence on the thompson's camps assualt on ray is deafening. I hold him tolallly accouintable for his silence. No I don't believe that Stephen will ever get in the ring with Ray in the WCL and there is no reason for Ray to fight him anywhere else. Ray is the show now and he's all WCL. I believe he is going to ride the WCL to the big money. From where we sit the WCl is the next ticket to the big time.

daniels has his own way of being cocky. he uses it to work the crowd. and wether you love him or hate him you still talk about him. And as long as your still talkin about him he's gonna stay famous. you've been mouthing daniels for months now fighter1982. And yes daniels can and one day will be beaten, but right now he is the heart and soul of the wcl. people love to see him fight because he will put on a show. He gives exactly what the wcl wants. he makes chuck proud and in the end that is all that matters.
